What is JAM?

JAM is a Sioux Falls nonprofit (501(c)3) dedicated to promoting the arts and artists in Sioux Falls. In December 2014, we opened the doors to Sioux Falls’ first ever Creative Reuse store, a store that resells unused or like-new, donated craft and art supplies. Our blog is a source of information for those interested in the arts and artists in the area. We feature galleries, classes and workshops, art events and exhibitions, artist interviews, and more on the blog.

Who is JAM?

JAM is made up of it’s founder/Executive Director Jess, it’s Media Manager Tana, and a slew of wonderful volunteers. We have a board of directors who help steer the decisions of the nonprofit: President of JAM, Craig, as well as members Addie, Mike, Susan and Allison. In addition to the board, we have a team of dedicated, kickass bloggers who have their feet on the street talking to artists, venues, galleries to document our community’s stories. We also offer internships to a few lucky students.

Why did you start JAM?

We felt there was a need in Sioux Falls for a primary source of information about the underground art scene, artists, and art events; as well as the need for a Creative Reuse Center. We’re determined to give exposure to these artists and art events. The Creative Reuse Center is a concept that larger cities have already adopted, and we saw a need in Sioux Falls for this type of business.

What does JAM stand for?

JAM is the founder/Executive Director’s initials – Jessica Anne Miller.

Where is JAM located?

JAM is located at 401 N. Phillips Avenue in Sioux Falls (the corner of 6th and Phillips). We’d love to see you!

What are your store hours?

MONDAY through FRIDAY 11 AM- 7 PM, SATURDAY 10 AM- 7 PM, SUNDAYS 12-4

What types of things do you sell?

We sell anything used to make art, or crafts. See a list here for the items we accept as donations.

How do I donate supplies?

You can drop off supplies anytime during our store hours.

Do you ever provide discounts or coupons for your store?

Since our items are already deeply discounted, at this time we do not offer any sales. However, if you volunteer to manage the store, you will be provided with a Membership Card, entitling you to JAM exclusive offers. And we do have special perks for students and educators.

Can I get a donation receipt when I donate my items?

Of course! You estimate the amount of your donation, and we will provide you with a receipt.

How do I get featured on your blog?

Send us a message! We would love to interview you if you are a fine artist, gallery owner, or have an art event to share. We love collaborating on projects and meeting new people!

How do I get my event posted on your events page?

Submit your event to us, and we will post it. If you want further coverage on your event, contribute a small write-up (500 words or so), and we will share it as a blog post. You can do that via our contact form.

Can I write for your blog?

Yes! We are always looking for bloggers and new content. We’d love for you to write for us – whether it’s a guest post, weekly or monthly column, or one-off piece. Contact us for more information.

How can I get more involved with JAM?

  1. Interested in the basics of sketching. I have been experimenting on my own but would love to take a class. Eventually would like to learn to paint with acrylics.

    1. We do not currently offer any at JAM, but one of our in-house artists might be willing to set up some classes with you. Her name is Hannah Wendt, and her email is hannah.art3@gmail.com. She also teaches painting.
